Sustainably produced fibers are increasingly being used to reduce the carbon footprint and minimize the depletion of petroleum resources. MiniFIBERS is actively participating in the development of new and sustainable bio-based, regenerated, reclaimed and recycled fiber technologies. We are also investigating unique ways that synthetic fibers can be used to improve the sustainability of certain end products.
Regenerated and bio-based fibers are produced from sustainable crops that reduce demand for petroleum-based resources. Some of these can go one step further with the ability to biodegrade at end of life, reducing waste and pollution. And fibers produced from recycled polymers can provide all the benefits of their virgin counterparts while utilizing materials that would otherwise end up in landfills or even in our oceans.
