PBI (polybenzimidazole) fiber is a high end, high performance fiber having the following notable characteristics:
- Superior inherent flame resistance; does not burn, produces minimal smoke
- Superior thermal stability; can withstand temperatures up to 560°C (1040°F) without degradation
- No shrinkage; superior dimensional stability
- Excellent abrasion resistance
- Strong chemical resistance
